Next to the Christmas Holidays, Fall is one of my favorite seasons for unique holiday food. I love that everywhere I go there’s pumpkin spice muffins, donuts, and lattes. Living in Canada all my life, I can’t imagine having Thanksgiving after Halloween. I love that the oranges of Thanksgiving food blends in magnificiently with the oranges of the pumpkins and decorations being hung up for the upcoming Halloween. Here’s some food for thought — Even though we usually compare our holiday to the American one which takes place in November, it can actually be argued that the Canadian Thanksgiving is actually more closely related to the German Thanksgiving. Erntedankfest meaning “Harvest festival of thanks” falls on the first Monday of October in Germany, is actually a lot like our own Thanksgiving which falls on the second Monday.
